deskGen.net Community Blurb Style Contest [2025]

Heads up everyone!

:ritsukopanic:

The deskGen.net staff is happy to announce the first ever Community Blurb Style Contest! Within the next 5 weeks, you'll have the ability to create and submit your very own blurb styles. After another week of community voting, the three blurb styles that received the most votes will be added to the deskGen.net shop! We'll also throw in a little something for all participants. For full details and rules, please check the poster below.

To submit, simply leave your entries in the replies of this thread, accompanied by a title for the piece. Submissions start today and end on March 9th!
We're excited to see what you'll come up with :).

Totally doing this, it sounds like a ton of fun!

Wanted to ask a clarifying question - When the rules state "entries must be wholly created by participants..." Does that disqualify using assets I have the legal right to use? I'm thinking things like CC0 image textures, grunge overlays, lens flares, etc.

Assets are totally fine! That rule just excludes any use of generative AI or plagiarism.

Gonna try my best to try and submit something for this, looks very fun :)

Small question:
As long as it stays within the recommenced image size and is not an unreasonably sized file, can we submit something animated/a GIF? Like some of the other existing blurb styles in the shop rn, for instance. If not, totally understandable. Was just wondering :)

Absolutely!

would it be okie to put any original characters of mine in the blurb or would just creating one for the blurb be most recommended? i feel like the answer to this is yes but im hella slow today...
As long as you control the rights to the characters that is A-OK!

follow-up: can a submission be edited? this would imply you'd have to remove whatever your previous submission was, and whatever submission you have by the end of the event period is what gets judged

I'll compile all of the submissions by the end, so feel free to make any edits until then.
