what do you use to make these wallpapers? metalhearts and smooth glossy tubes and stuff? (noob :P)

are they 3d? just really good 2d perspectives and stuff? im really interested in trying to make some but i dunno how to get started on it. i have blender and krita and gimp but im not good at drawing.
modelling, ehhhhh.... i can make, say, a star, with a bit of time, but not very fast.
anyway. i just want to hear your process for it!

put literally anything into blender and absolutely destroy it beyond reason with deform modifiers. you'll quickly find out things you like and don't like. the input shapes can be just about anything you want so long as there's enough geometry to spread around (i got by for a while using an array modifier on the basic shapes and bending THOSE around a bunch).

texture it however, lighting is the more important thing imo unless you have a REALLY specific texture in mind, set the camera up however you want as long as the shot looks cool. different focal lengths can 100% sell the sense of scale better than just a static shot of the thing you just made. find a cool way to frame it, a nice movement, anything compositionally that'll really drive your piece.

render it out as nice as you want (or as nice as your computer will allow), and then take it into whatever editing software you wanna use. color correct if needed (curves is your best friend), and play with blending modes on various texture things you can find (obvi that you're ALLOWED to use) to fill out the spaces otherwise.

type and interfacing can be a HUGE bottleneck, so don't push yourself too hard until you've found a good workflow that works for you in terms of the steps up to this point.

just remember that it can be anything and everything just as long as it looks cool to YOU. you practice at it enough and you'll find your own style even if it doesn't quite feel like it all the time <3

this is a GREAT start yes !!!

this isn't how everyone works but i personally try keeping a big contrast between my backgrounds and my forms so that things don't get "lost" visually (dark form, lighter background, vice versa).

i'm curious to see where this one goes !!
 
~first quarter next year I'm gonna have some TV quality tutorials and history lessons recorded for the dG YouTube channel (this is part of the reason I've said I'll do 'em for years lol) but I'll give you the cliffnotes for my basic 3D workflow:

You're going to want a decent amount of vertices to work with to start. Cubes are not particularly grand for this but w/e - this is a quick n dirty cliffnote tut, it'll be fine.

Go into sculpting. My preferred tool is clay strips. If you drag the strength, it caps out at 1. But if you click it and type, it goes up to 10. I set it to 7 or 8.

You'll pretty quickly get some solid deformation from here. Play around with it, play around with your tools, and be sure to make it your own.

From there, use modifiers like surface subdivision / simple deform to sculpt with math! Good luck & have fun!
