sick band & one of their best tracks. i remember seeing posters up around my high school for their old crows/young cardinals tour, they played my (second) favourite venue in the city with La Dispute and Norma Jean. i'd heard them before, my sister had definitely played Boiled Frogs a couple of times around the house, but seeing that poster made me go "whoa this looks cool as hell". it's not their most popular record but it holds a special place in my heart as a result
I've recently found myself listening to Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares (that is, "The Mystery of Bulgarian Voices"), a collection of traditional Bulgarian folk music recorded by the Bulgarian State Radio & Television Female Vocal Choir. Beautiful in its own right, surreal to hear as a lifelong fan of dozens of musicians that it has inspired. Of particular note, Kenji Kawai's soundtrack to Ghost in the Shell (1995) would not exist without this album.
I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone with a soul. Use properly powered speakers, I feel as if songs of this nature are best appreciated when they resonate in a room.
