What are you listening to right now?

happy easter

recently released melodic prog metal album
holy shit the choruses in here are phenomenal. it's like a mix of Widek, Halo Effect and Reconciliation by ALMO. definitely gonna check out their other albums.
favorite track is Seed of the Night

happy YOUR SPIRIT DIES full length release day to those who celebrate. even if it doesn't end up being my AOTY it will almost surely have my favourite album art.

had no clue this was coming out tbh. liked their last album a fair bit and iirc the vocalist has a youtube channel (kardavox academy? been a minute) that was pretty educational even though i thought it looked algorithm bait-y, but i guess if you want to make money on youtube you've got to play the system a little

Anamanaguchi just released the first single from their third full-length, and I am unbelievably hyped. This is the most Weezer they've ever sounded and I mean that in the best way possible.

I saw the cover of the single this morning and was immediately "is that the American Football house?!" and it is! Not only is it on the cover and the music video, but the entire album was written there, which is wild to think since I've driven past that house before.

also, almost 20 years into this band's tenure we're getting vocals from the members?!

hall of fame breakdown in a hall of fame song by a hall of fame band

i saw the mounds of hyperbolic acclaim that last magbay album got and resolved not to check them out because there's Just No Way, but my defenses are cracking

It's really, really good. Any great album's gonna have overblown reception at this point because nobody can just say "it's really good!" anymore, but I love it. Can also heavily recommend Chaeri off Mercurial World. After seeing them live like half their discog's stuck in my head and very much elevated with the energy they bring on stage.

alright andy can attest that I really am bored by a lot of modern production/tone on popular -core bands but this track actually goes so fucking stupid that I might give the rest of the album a listen soon
Yo, that intro fuckin' HITS, goddamn. Gotta throw this one in the workout mix.

"soon" was immediately after posting and it was solid. starts and ends strong but idk how often i'd feel like listening to it in full. as far as slickly produced metalcore goes they're still probably one of the better bands doing it

I've had In Flames pop up on my YouTube recommended every now and then (my YouTube music recommendations are 🔥) and I still haven't listened to any of their albums yet for some reason. Probably should check them out
