What are you playing right now?

The greatest man alive ( @SkullSystem ) let me borrow his copy of Shadow Generations. I'm floored, man. This is probably the best level design I've ever seen in a Sonic game?
 
suikoden I + II remaster, atelier yumia and xenoblade X all in the same month is some very targeted wallet harassment. totally forgot about suikoden until the day before it came out but I started it last night. played em both before but only the one time way back so I'm stoked to do it again. no doubt in my mind that I'll enjoy them just as much now as I did then
 
Just played through Milk inside a bag of milk and Milk outside a bag of milk, and wow.

absolutely incredible games, highly recommend if you like unique narrative games, and they're on sale right now in the visual novel fest on steam.

brb, gonna go play through milk outside again to try and get a different ending

I'm super torn on if i want to get it now or wait until the Switch 2. on one hand, it looks really cool, but on the other hand it being the first Xenoblade game to actually run well would be even cooler.

still slowly chipping away at Metaphor, but I've hit the point where I switched from "this is pretty cool" to "oh man I love this", so I'm probably going to pick up the pace this week. press turn battles combined with a job system really gives me the Good JRPG Brain Chemicals

also been replaying Sleeping Dogs. aside from having to download a fix as soon as I started because it had the smallest subtitles I've ever seen, that game is still cool. GTA but with Arkham combat and in Hong Kong nicely blended together. probably my second favourite Not-GTA game behind Saints Row 2, which I also feel like replaying sometime now lol

My hope is that Switch 2 back-compat will include at least a few performance improvements. I'd really like to hit 100% resolution scaling, lol.
 
Been playing Splatoon 3 a lot again lately.

Back when I was at my internship fall 2022 and my family was spread across the US, my dad, brother, and I would group up and just binge Salmon Run (PvE) every night. Now that I've graduated and we're all spread out again, Splatoon has struck again.

It's just as fun as I remember, and Turf War (PVP) has become much more of a mainstay in our rotation than it ever was before.

If you ever run across a team that includes Kepler, Kdog, and norseman, that's probably us :)

so the game is playable again? I quit during the period of time they totally fucked up the netcode to the point it was nearly impossible to play a full match but I've been missing it, good to know

Well worth the hype btw. Definitely a little frustrated with the level/exploration gap to get to the next chapter but also I do really just love exploring this game's world. Insanely cool.
 
Ratchet is a bit too much of a dick and I wish you could strafe (I know you can in 2 onwards), but aside from that I've been enjoying playing Ratchet & Clank. It's kinda like if Shadow the Hedgehog (the game) was actually good

oh lol I totally must have missed that.

yeah it's super playable, I've played maybe 30 hours online over the past month or so and only had three or four disconnections
 
falling in love with Xenoblade X all over again thanks to the definitive edition. if anything I think i appreciate some aspects of it even more now and the New Stuff has been integrated seamlessly, or at least as of chapter 9. one character I thought was someone I had just memoryholed due to the sheer wealth of side content turned out to be entirely new. been taking it kinda slow and just doing all the side stuff as it unlocks, maxing affinity with every party member etc. i'm a solid 15 levels above what the main quests want me to be, so I probably COULD just beeline those and then work through everything else, but I think exploration is so key to this game's philosophy that doing so would also kind of be doing it a disservice.
all the time you spend running around getting acquainted with the scenery on foot is pivotal in the "hooooly shit" feeling once you get your Skell & feel the scale shift, and then again once you unlock flight. it's awesome.

it's also gotten me going down memory lane with the Xeno series as a whole, and if I weren't so busy I'd probably be motivated to commit to a Gears through Saga 1-3 replay when I'm done. until that time frees up though, I'll just be happy enough thinking about them. glad i've been able to experience takahashi & co's 20+ year vision.
 
in a similar boat, I went back and finished the Xenoblade 2 DLC and now I feel like replaying the main game. but I still need to play 3. and X. and gears and saga. and a million other games oh no

anyway, good stuff. streamlines a lot of things gameplay-wise from the main game in a good way while expanding on the story. a nice experience that was "only" 25 hours long. the frame rate in the second to last boss fight had me internally screaming "oh god I need the Switch 2 now" though lmao. gonna wait for that before I play 3 or X

I also played Star Fox 64 again recently via the PC port (which is great btw) and I'm happy to say that game still kicks ass
 
I wasn't planning on playing Oblivion remastered... but my old roommate bought it and we're still linked over Steam family share.

it's very good, though it runs very poorly on my desktop, and I still have pretty decent specs (Ryzen 5 from like 2021, 32gb of ram and a Titan XP with 12gb VRAM). The stuttering was making me a bit motion sick in first person, so I'm playing in third person and on mostly low settings.

indoors looks very good, outdoors suffers from my settings but its still really fun. I wish I could keep tweaking my character's appearance without losing achievements but c'est la vie

had a couple broken quests and some really jank walk animations but its bethesda, what do you expect lol

There are plenty of mods on Nexus that let you use any console commands without losing your achievements. I haven't tried it myself, but it should work :>
